(Anethum graveolens)
A native of the Mediterranean, dill took on many different cultural meanings as it traversed the globe. The Romans associated it with happiness, the Egyptians felt it was a religious ornament, and the Medieval Europeans used it to counteract the spells of witches and warlocks! Regardless of its past, dill is an essential ingredient for all types of pickles, sauces, and fish dishes. Dill is a good companion plant for cabbage, however do not plant dill near carrots. They don’t play well together!
