Savory has a long history in North Africa, particularly Egypt, as well as the Mediterranean regions of Italy and Greece. It was used to flavour meats, stuffings and sauces. Not to be outdone by other herbs with an interesting past, Savory was once considered to be a valuable aphrodisiac.
