(Brassica oleracea var. italica)
Broccoli was born of Italian heritage. Cultivated by the ancient Romans who chose the most tender of wild cabbage stalks to improve upon, broccoli has evolved into one of the most loved and hated vegetables on our plate today. When Catherine de Médicis introduced it to France, she changed its’ latin name bracchium (meaning branch), to broccoli.
