Commonly referred to as “head” or “iceberg” lettuce, this is the variety most commonly found in North American supermarkets. The most popular of lettuce varieties, its crisp, juicy leaves are tightly folded into a ball, forming a “cabbage-like” head. Sometimes a little tricky to grow in a home-garden, crisphead varieties excel under cool growing conditions.
