Developed in the mid 1730’s by Robert Uvedale, teacher and horticulturalist. Painted Lady was one of the first named sweet peas flowers.

This variety has continued to captivate gardeners for many years. Sturdy vines grow 5-6’ (150-180cm) high, producing enchanting bi-colour blossoms in shades of deep rose pink and creamy white. Strong delicious fragrance reminiscent of honey, oranges, and spice! Quick to bloom, and ready to re-flower when harvested. Attractive to bees, butterflies, and especially humans! (12 seeds/g)

Please Note: Sweet Pea seeds, pods and plants are NOT edible

Tips for Growing Sensational Sweet Peas!  Sweet Peas are an annual that thrives in full-day sun with well-fertilized, moist soil. They can be started in-doors, but we prefer to direct seed after the danger of frost has passed, and the soil has warmed to at least (55ºF/12ºC). Plant seeds ½“(1.5cm) deep, 2-3” (5-7.5cm) apart in an area where there is sturdy support available for climbing. Cover with soil, and gently tamp/press down so that the seeds are in contact with the earth. Lightly water, ensuring the soil remains moist, but not over-watered. When plants reach 6”(15cm) tall, pinch back the tips to encourage bushy growth. Sweet Peas usually germinate within 10-28 days (55-65ºF/12-18ºC).
