Ruby Red
Heritage: Mediterranean, Greece
This red stalk variety has been recorded in the gardens of ancient Greece as early as 400 B.C. It spread throughout the rest of the Mediterranean region into western Europe, and eventually over to North America.
This variety of chard is highly ornamental growing as high as 24” (60cm). Thick beautiful stalks are a bright crimson red extending throughout the veins of the heavily savoyed dark green leaves. Exceptionally tender when young, with a touch of sweetness, we find this variety has more of a beet flavour than other chards. Bonus: Yields all season long into frost! Matures in 50-60 days. (85 seeds/g)
