(Eruca sativa)
Throughout history Rocket has held a constant presence. From the kitchens of ancient Rome, to the streets of early Bombay the leaves and seeds have been devoured by kings and paupers alike. In the Middle East it has been prized as a popular treatment for eye infections. In Italy it is valued as a condiment on top of pizza. The North American palate, however, has had a tendency to overlook such an incredible botanical find. Its taste has been compared to “spinach grown in Tabasco sauce”. We love Arugula! For others, it is an acquired taste at best.
